Innovations on the transport

Innovations can be carried out within the limits of the developed structures and technologies or can be alternative. In the first case they are successful, if the sphere is successful, and the innovative technology occupies its own niche giving effect to the sphere. In the second case innovative technology – a new organism, which is alien to the developed structures. To exist, it should have solvent demand and to be viable in a Common Economic Space, but to appear it need special conditions.

Innovative technologies of the second type easily develop in virtual sphere, but are much more hard realised in material sphere where they are compelled not only to compete, but also to overcome inertia of thinking. Sometimes they however can grow on a body of successful sphere. Such technologies are capable to raise qualitatively efficiency of economy as a whole.

Last large realised innovative technologies were – the Internet and system of mobile communications.

But throughout a world history the leading part in economic progress was played by innovations in the field of transport and power. Railways, motor transport, aircraft, electric power industry have transformed economic to a current state. The next economic break at the expense of innovative technologies on transport is possible today.

But achievements in the field of the automated control systems make it real to creat transport networks in which passengers and cargoes are transported in the automated vehicles of small capacity operated uniform information computer system (accepted name Personal rapid transit – PRT). Such networks use special transport constructions which are distinguished by high throughput and reliability at low cost of building and operation. Now PRT system are actively developed all over the world. In Great Britain there is a building of system called ULTRA for delivery passengers to Heathrow airport. This system is made as a basis decision for a problem of passengers transportation in Atlanta (USA). The potential of influence of such systems on economy development is comparable to railway building in the middle of XIX-th century. Thus the range of their application can be very various.

In Russia enthusiasts develop some variants of systems of this kind. Among them, for example, “ZEST-TRANCE”, «Sky-Taxi», «Junnitsky string transport ». However there is no regular researches in this sphere. Projects do not leave a concept condition.

The reasons are clear. The existing transport sphere has so much problems that cannot spend force and money for consecutive development of alternative technologies. The venture capital prefer not to risk to contact sphere in which the principle is “the uniform government» («Transport Strategy of the Russian Federation for the period to 2020» item 2.1.1 is proclaimed) and there is no practice of commercial relations.

It is necessary to untie this knot, differently successful IT spheres will again develop only in foreign countries.

Possibility for this purpose is given by domestic working out “ZEST-TRANCE” which represents the multiple concept of improvement of transport at the expense of transition to automatically operated vehicles and is specially adapted for Russia conditions. And for solutions of the most actual transport problems.

TRAM-ZEST –  The universal automated transport. Its platforms in weight 2500 – 4000 kg move on the special guideway (mainly covered) which can have biases up to 75 %, in an automatic mode. It is distinguished by a minimum of the city space demanded for placing and simplicity of adaptation to difficult conditions of a relief and to various requirements of users at the expense of possibility to move on steep slopes and descents. The platform can be equipped for transportation of passengers, including an individual compartments, cargoes and cars (!). Its highways can be laid on a straight line in the most difficult district, through any obstacles – the rivers, mountains, wood, building, other transport arteries. Thus a damage to environment is minimal. They can have big (ten or more kilometres) and small (hundreds of metres) extents and served by different number of platforms. Throughput of such systems vary in very wide limits from several hundreds passengers and ten cars to 18.000 passengers and 1200 cars or 2500 т cargoes an hour.

TRAM-ZEST can become effective solution for many transport problems. On its basis it is possible:

- adjust comfortable and safe public transport in cities at rather small costs and the minimum infringement of developed town-planning conditions,

- provide communication of the regional centres with developing rural areas that can become the important impulse for development of the last, the solutions for problems of maintenance with the foodstuffs, to promote the best use of ground fund, the decision of demographic problems.

- solve problems of trafic jams and parkings on entrances to the big cities that have developed suburbs, promote more rational settling of people, including more ecologically favorable conditions.

- effectively solve a problem of development Russia’s unique resort zone at the Black Sea coast, where transport systems connecting coast and mountain areas, can be constructed without damage to ecology. That presumes to increase considerably territory used in resort purposes,

– solve transport problems of local territories on which there are some obstacles for movement, by a construction of inexpensive automated transboarders to transport cars and passengers through the rivers, transport highways and other obstacles.

PRT-ZEST – Future transport of megapolicies (in Russia there are few, in the world – hundreds). The standard personal vehicle that outwardly not much different than a common a car. It can move under control of the driver on city streets or regional highways. But this vehicle can take advantage of the special transport network in which it will move automatically to destination without stops and trafic jams. Vehicle control is carried out under the accurate schedule by the computer. After disembarkation it will park vehicle in system on the automated parking and will return it in a demanded place in due time to the user. High comfort which in modern conditions is not reached because of traffic jams even in car with a personal driver, high safety of transportations, a minimal harm for ecology. And all it under the reasonable price defined by low expenses on energy, minimum demanded for a lining of lines city territory, cheapness of automated management in comparison with people drivers.

If you add to all this absence of risks conected with distribution of epidemics and big losses in case of supernumerary, including the provoked situations such systems will be out of competition. PRT-ZEST can become rescue for megapolicies quickly growing worldwide. This system has high throughput and it doesn’t take much of city space for placing. It has planetary potential for development, as in due time the mobile communication. But the demands in investments are very big even for realisation at local level.

Russia – country with a high share of transport expenses in a national produce, for it development of new technologies in this sphere is a natural and necessary aim. It is necessary to reduce a share of transport costs in economy and social sphere.

In the country on the basis of innovative technologies can be created hundreds of effective new enterprises on transport which will allow to lower huge costs which are born in this sphere by economy and a society.

They can be commercial because they directly do not connect with existing systems and which cannot offer such services. For them it is possible to request the conformable price and the consumer will pay, as pays today for the mobile Internet.

In modern world IT enterprises can provide high profit at the expense of an export component. The technologys, offered above, based on original Russian workings out, can be successfully realised abroad. The potential market for them is huge, hundreds of choking megapolicies, a large quantity of developing territories with an underdeveloped transport infrastructure, thousand resort zones where existing transport spoils ecology.

For traditional transport spheres prospects of the break on foreign markets is doubtful, competition is too great, but the new will step over any borders under condition of high efficiency. Trading with transport systems is more reliable, than arms and it is more favourable, than hydrocarbons.

Prospects are tempting. But it is necessary to prepare soil. Both technological, and legal. Probably at interstate level. And Russia can position itself as the technological leader in new sphere, instead of the simple manufacturer.

But without a corresponding state policy this direction in general will not fructify. After all transport – sphere always overstepping the bounds of simple relation of the seller and the buyer. It should be entered in general development layouts of territories, also the ground areas and power capacities should be allot for it. It is necessary to confirm technical regulations and instructions for use of new transport systems and, at last, to provide certain equality in the markets of transport services, because of the majority of tariffs for passenger transportations while is assumed by budgetary grants.

Only having developed at the state level rules of the game on a new economic field, it is possible to involve the demanded capital for its cultivation and to receive worthy results.
